Aaron Timperman, Ph.D., has joined the University of Notre Dame’s Advanced Diagnostics & Therapeutics (AD&T) initiative as its new Associate Director-Research.
“Aaron is an analytical scientist and bioengineer with extensive experience in many of areas at the core of AD&T’s R&D portfolio,” Paul Bohn, Schmitt Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineer and Director of AD&T, said. “These include microfluidics and nanofluidics, precision medicine and proteomics, lab-on-a-chip sensors, and detection of environmental contaminants.”
Timperman is a former professor of chemistry at West Virginia University and more recently served as a research chemist at the US Army Corps of Engineer’s Engineer Research and Development Center in Champaign, Illinois.
“I’m excited to be a Notre Dame and look forward to contributing to AD&T research and assisting its faculty affiliates,” said Timperman. “Part of what attracted me here is the university’s growth in research, outstanding colleagues, and a strong interdisciplinary research program aimed at a wide array of human health issues.”
Timperman will have a concurrent appointment in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. A recent example of his work can be found in the cover article of the July 21, 2015, issue of Analytical Chemistry, Controlling the Ionic Current Rectification Factor of a Nanofluidic/Microfluidic Interface with Symmetric Nanocapillary Interconnects, on which he is the lead author.
“Aaron is a terrific scholar and a great addition to Notre Dame,” added Bohn. “He will help us reach the next level in both current and new programs.”
Launched in 2008, Advanced Diagnostics & Therapeutics is a nexus of research activity for more than 60 collaborating scientists and engineers who make discoveries and develop tools that promote human and environmental health.
