Applications for Research Funding in Ireland or at Notre Dame through the Naughton Fellowships Now Open

The University of Notre Dame has opened the application period for its annual competition for Naughton Fellowships. The competitive fellowships provide funding for PhD, Masters, or undergraduate students with an aptitude for the STEM disciplines to complete research or study in Ireland or at Notre Dame.

The following fellowship opportunities are currently open for applications.

PhD

  • Faculty from the University of Notre Dame and Dublin City University, the National University of Ireland, Galway, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, or University College Dublin should submit a joint proposal, identifying the co-advisors and the research plan. The collaborators of the successful doctoral fellowship will receive a total of $120,000 USD. All applications are due by December 4, 2015.

Master’s

  • Notre Dame students can apply for a Master’s program at Dublin City University, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, or University College Dublin. More than 40 programs are available; the full list can be found on naughton.nd.edu. Fellowships include a full tuition waiver, as well as a $20,000 USD stipend for living expenses, plus cultural enrichment programming. All applications are due by January 31, 2016.
  • Irish students from Dublin City University, the National University of Ireland, Galway, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, or University College Dublin can apply for a Master’s degree at the University of Notre Dame’s ESTEEM Program. ESTEEM is a one year Engineering, Science, and Technology Entrepreneurship Excellence Master’s. Fellowships include a full tuition waiver, as well as a $17,000 USD stipend for living expenses, health insurance coverage, plus access to cultural enrichment programming. All applications are due by February 26, 2016.

Research Experience for Undergraduates

  • Ten-week research experiences for Notre Dame students are available at Dublin City University, Trinity College Dublin, or University College Cork. Fellowships include airfare, accommodation, a stipend, and cultural enrichment programming. Please check naughton.nd.edu for more information.
  • Ten-week research experiences for Irish students from Dublin City University, Trinity College Dublin, or University College Cork are available at the University of Notre Dame. Fellowships include airfare, accommodation, cultural enrichment programming, and a stipend for travel and living expenses. Please check naughton.nd.edu for more information.
