The University of Notre Dame will host the sixth annual 1st Source Bank Faculty Commercialization Award Dinner on Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 at the Gillespie Conference Center in South Bend.
Established in 2008 with a $1 million gift from 1st Source Bank, the award is presented each year to faculty from Notre Dame or the Indiana University School of Medicine-South Bend who have successfully transitioned their technology from the lab to the marketplace.
This year’s dinner, “Celebrating University Innovation,” will honor one faculty member’s discoveries that have resulted in commercial impact. The award includes a $20,000 cash prize. All Notre Dame or IUSM-SB inventors who were awarded a U.S. patent in 2015, as well as inventors who have submitted invention disclosures and those who have had their technologies licensed, will also be recognized. James A. Schellinger, AIA – the President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation – will offer the keynote speech to approximately 250 guests. Robert J. Bernhard, University of Notre Dame Vice President for Research, Mary Galvin, University of Notre Dame William K. Warren Foundation Dean, College of Science; Professor and Peter Kilpatrick, University of Notre Dame Professor and Matthew H. McCloskey Dean of the College of Engineering; and Jeff Rea, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of St. Joseph County will recognize both inventors and key community partners, and will present the 2016 Invention Discovery Awards. Christopher J. Murphy III, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the 1st Source Corporation, and Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., will present the annual 1st Source Bank Faculty Commercialization Award.
