The Molecular Structure Facility (MSF) provides structural elucidation of new compounds and materials through X-ray diffraction techniques, with two primary services offered: single crystal diffraction and powder diffraction. Single crystal studies can provide the unequivocal three-dimensional connectivity, configuration, and elemental assignment of inorganic, organic, and organometallic compounds, while powder diffraction studies provide bulk sample analysis of new materials.

The Molecular Structure Facility is a core facility within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Notre Dame and provides services for researchers at Notre Dame and the wider academic community.
