Notre Dame Integrated Imaging Facility
A state-of-the-art research core that consolidates the imaging capacity currently dispersed around campus and augments it with powerful new imaging modalities.
The Notre Dame Environmental Change Initiative (ND-ECI) will tackle the interrelated problems of invasive species, land use, and climate change, focusing on their synergistic impacts on water resources. The goal of ND-ECI is to provide solutions that minimize the trade-offs between human welfare and environmental health where trade-offs are unavoidable, and to discover win-win solutions where they are possible.
Sustainable Energy Initiative
The Sustainable Energy Initiative (SEI) was initiated in 2010 to establish Notre Dame as a preeminent leader in three strategic areas: (1) the development of safer nuclear energy – focus on actinide materials stabilization, (2) the design of cleaner fossil fuel processes – focus on materials for gas separations, and (3) the creation of transformative solar energy technologies – focus on materials for conversion of solar to chemical energy. In 2012, the Center for Sustainable Energy at Notre Dame (cSEND) was established and now encompasses the strategic areas of the SEI and other energy related research initiatives at Notre Dame. cSEND is a University Research Center whose mission is to advance innovative, energy-related research, education, and outreach programs to address the global challenges of creating a more sustainable energy future for all. With its interdisciplinary and multifaceted approach, cSEND will expand Notre Dame’s international recognition in energy-related research and will provide unsurpassed educational opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students at Notre Dame.
Notre Dame Nanoelectronics Research Initiative
Explores new device concepts and associated architectures that are enabled by novel phenomena on the nanometer scale.
Advanced Diagnostics and Therapeutics
A broad initiative that brings Notre Dame engineers and scientists together to explore matter, energy, and living systems on extremely small scales and to turn discoveries in these areas into innovative tools for tackling some of the world’s most pressing health and environmental problems.
Notre Dame Eck Institute for Global Health
The University of Notre Dame Eck Institute for Global Health is a university-wide enterprise that recognizes health as a fundamental human right and endeavors to promote research, training and service to advance health standards for all people, and especially people in low and middle-income countries who are disproportionately impacted by preventable diseases.
Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study
Research that is directed toward ultimate questions and questions of value through exploration of the relationship between the descriptive and the normative worlds, especially as they engage the Catholic intellectual tradition.
