NSF-funded workshop on Cyberinfrastructure for Major Facilities, 2022
Getting Together, Working Together
CI Compass is organizing the next NSF Cyberinfrastructure for Major Facilities Workshop, to be held in the Redondo Beach area of Southern California, just minutes from LAX on March 1 and 2, 2022. If at all possible, this meeting will be held in-person (with accommodations for remote participation).
The goal of this workshop is for the MFs, CI community, and NSF to share best practices, discuss opportunities, and brainstorm solutions to the challenges we face today and in the future as they relate to the CI for NSF Major Facilities. The main theme of this workshop is “Getting Together, Working Together,” emphasizing the need for collaboration to address both technical and social challenges faced by our community. Participants will discuss topics of cloud migration, FAIR data, workforce development, and share with each other what we have learned during the pandemic. The in-person portion of the meeting will include CI office hours and ample time for networking.

COVID-19 Considerations
We all know that we cannot predict what will happen in March, but we are hoping to be able to get together in person, and if at all possible, we will encourage in-person interaction. The meeting will be held at a hotel that requires individuals to be fully vaccinated and wear masks. We will follow any additional required federal, state, and local guidelines to make sure the meeting is as safe as possible. However, we understand that some may not want to or be able to travel, and thus we will provide remote participation accommodations.
