Elliott Visconsi, associate provost and chief academic digital officer, has been named provost and dean of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., effective July 1.

Visconsi joined Notre Dame in 2010 as an associate professor of English. For the last decade, he has also served as associate provost and chief academic digital officer.

“Elliot has done superb work on the integration of units devoted to pedagogy from across campus, helped develop a successful online master’s program in data science and led multiple initiatives aimed at enhancing instruction in gateway courses,” said John T. McGreevy, the Charles and Jill Fischer Provost. “All of this he accomplished while teaching popular and successful courses on free speech and advancing his scholarly work on early modern English literature.”
