The Center for Social Science Research (CSSR) – the reenvisioned Center for Social Research – will encompass a new leadership structure and service offerings. The CSSR is intended to serve the breadth of social science research at the University of Notre Dame, including the College of Arts and Letters, the Keough School of Global Affairs, the Mendoza College of Business, the Law School, and the School of Architecture.

In discussing the update, Kate Mueller, managing director of the CSSR, said, “After taking in feedback from across campus to assess the support for social science research available on campus, several changes are being made to better assist Notre Dame faculty and students. The CSSR will offer services for data analytics, data management, purchasing and access to large data sets, and training, as well as a new statistics help desk under our new structure. We will also serve as a connector for researchers to find other existing campus resources that best address individual project needs.”

One of the CSSR’s goals is to showcase available University social science support and to assist researchers in finding appropriate resources for their projects. In order to best serve Notre Dame faculty and students, the new center website provides a listing of available resources, like journals and databases, as well as other on campus entities that provide social science research support. On the website or by contacting the CSSR directly, the center will act as a connector to existing resources in addition to filling gaps in social science research support.

Faculty, students, and staff interested in learning more about the CSSR can attend the upcoming open house on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Forum of Jenkins Nanovic Halls and food and refreshments, including adult beverages, will be available.
