When the Radiation Research Building was blessed by Father Theodore Hesburgh during its dedication on September 1, 1963, then-Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) Glenn Seaborg heralded the new laboratory as the nation’s foremost center for the production of scientists in the highly specialized field.
