Ruilan Guo, the Frank M. Freimann Associate Professor of Engineering, will join the editorial board of Polymer, an interdisciplinary journal dedicated to publishing innovative and significant advances in polymer physics, chemistry, and technology. Her term begins August 1, 2021.
The publication’s core areas include polymer materials; physical characterization; polymer engineering, synthesis, modification, and self-assembly; and technological applications.
Guo’s research interests encompass the design, synthesis, and characterization of functional polymer materials for a wide range of applications, such as gas separation membranes, polyelectrolyte membranes for fuel cells, and ion-containing polymers for desalination and water treatment.
Guo serves as the director of graduate admissions for the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and is a thrust leader in the Center for Innovative and Strategic Transformation of Alkane Resources, a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center.
She is a recipient of the Department of Energy Early Career Research Award and the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund for Doctoral New Investigators. She was also named to the Inaugural Class of Influential Researchers by Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research and selected as a Molecular Systems Design & Engineering Emerging Investigator.
