Professor Pamela Butler has been appointed Gender Studies’ Visiting Associate Director and Director of Undergraduate Studies for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Professor Butler earned her PhD in American Studies from the University of Minnesota.  She has taught at the University of Michigan-Flint, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Notre Dame, and her areas of expertise include feminist theory, critical-race and transnational feminisms, U.S. media culture, knitting and handcrafts, sexuality, marriage, and prisons.  This fall Professor Butler will be teaching Introduction to Gender Studies (GSC 10001/20001), as well as Dearly Beloved: The History and Politics of Marriage in the United States (GSC 40816).
