Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide. And although many would consider cancer one disease, it's actually a general term for a group of diseases where diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis depend on the type of cancer someone has. At the University of Notre Dame, the Harper Cancer Research Institute (HCRI) supports a community of researchers with diverse expertise, backgrounds, and approaches who are working to understand cancer in order to more effectively prevent and treat these complex diseases.
