“At Notre Dame, we are committed to using digital learning to enhance the deep bond between students and faculty that sits at the heart of our residential model,” said Elliott Visconsi, chief academic digital officer in the Provost’s Office. “This grant program coordinates among campus units to provide faculty with the expertise and production support necessary to deliver cutting-edge, digitally enhanced instruction.”

Successful faculty may receive grant funding, assessment and learning design, media design and production, technical assistance, and project management. Eligible projects for grant funding may include the creation of:
- digital and online modules, animations, lectures for campus use
e-textbook implementations and e-textbook authoring
- fully online summer courses for Summer 2017
- Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
- and more.

In addition to grants and support, the ODL, the Kaneb Center for Teaching and Learning, the Hesburgh Libraries, and the Office of Information Technologies Teaching and Learning Technologies division are sponsoring a Digital Publishing Initiative and faculty challenge prize to address the high cost and environmental impact of textbooks and other assigned materials for classroom use.
