The LL.M. and J.S.D. Programs in International Human Rights Law, joint programs of Notre Dame Law School and the Klau Center, have recently undergone some important changes.
The Law School has announced the appointment of Felicia Caponigri as Acting Director of International and Graduate Programs. Dr. Caponigri will help oversee various international programs, international exchange agreements and partnerships, and recruitment of graduate students, among other responsibilities. Caponigri earned her J.D. from Notre Dame in 2015, and completed her Ph.D. in cultural heritage at IMT School for Advanced Studies in Lucca, Italy.
Also recently announced, Jean Marc Brissau will act as Graduate Program Manager. In his newly created role, Brissau will manage student-related academic and co-curricular programs for the LL.M. and J.S.D. programs, and assist in the development and promotion of the programs.
Brissau, himself a 2008 graduate of the LL.M. Program in International Human Rights Law, previously served as the Haiti Program country director, funded by the University of Notre Dame. In that capacity, he played a leadership role in the University’s engagement in collaborative efforts to mitigate the incidence of lymphatic filariasis in Haiti. In addition to his work with the Haiti Program, Brissau founded a school to provide free education for the less fortunate in his hometown of Léogâne in 2017.
Brissau looks forward to building on the relationship between the programs and the Klau Center, taking full advantage of the opportunity to expand programs’ potential. “I am delighted to collaborate with the Center’s human rights activities,” he says. “The Center’s research initiatives provide LL.M. students and the wider Law School community with opportunities to hear from experts in the field and engage in discussion on pressing issues in civil and human rights. Through joint programming and coursework, we will work with the Center to support the entire Notre Dame community’s discovery, use, and appreciation of the concepts of human dignity and compassion that are central to human rights law around the world.”
