The Notre Dame Institute for Global Investing recently announced this year’s one-credit International Portfolio Management (IPM) course will take place in Rio, Brazil.

Mendoza students will spend the week engaging in real-world interactions and working on a case study with a Rio-based firm. Case studies like this one, which are typically based on a real-world situation, allow students to simulate the process of analyzing and solving complex business problems. They challenge students to develop their own solutions and then channel these solutions toward a recommended course of action.

Through this process, case studies invoke a practical application of classroom knowledge, allowing students to implement financial theory, analyze markets and industry trends, collaborate with peers in a simulated work environment, and present investment decisions in a professional setting.

IPM, which runs over spring break, enables students to travel abroad with instructors. Last year’s course traveled to London in the spring of 2017, offering students an opportunity to supplement their Notre Dame education with international experience.

Through the IPM course, students will understand investing from a global vantage point, contribute solutions in a collaborative setting, and build connections with practicing industry professionals abroad.
