The Center for Sustainable Energy at Notre Dame (ND Energy) has welcomed four new recipients of the 2021 Vincent P. Slatt Fellowship for Undergraduate Research in Energy Systems and Processes at the University of Notre Dame. Students receiving this award are recognized for their academic excellence, outstanding achievements, and passion for finding solutions to the various global energy challenges through research and discovery.

“We are delighted to broaden this year’s cohort of Slatt scholars and welcome students from Notre Dame and the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, to join our research network” said Ginger E. Sigmon, managing director of ND Energy. “It is a win-win by having students from other universities work alongside students at Notre Dame. It provides a unique opportunity for both groups to learn from each other and for us to learn about some of the specific energy challenges in other parts of the world.”

These students will conduct energy-related research projects in collaboration with ND Energy faculty affiliates. Students from Puerto Rico will collaborate remotely, while students from Notre Dame will conduct research on campus. Each scholar has received a $5,000 award to support their research projects and other expenses.

Joining the original cohort of 18 Slatt scholars announced on March 15, 2021, the following students will join a vibrant group of undergraduate researchers who will contribute to the advancement of energy-related research at Notre Dame.
