Biography
Barbara Villarosa has been a member of the Notre Dame family since October 2001, serving in various capacities within Notre Dame Energy, the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, the Office of the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Human Resources. She has extensive experience working with faculty on research projects and managing and overseeing specific tasks in the research administration lifecycle. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated expertise in program leadership and management, budget and financial planning, marketing and communications, and conference planning and execution. She has led a 22-member team of summer REU program administrators and was among the recipients of a 2023 Presidential Team Irish Award for outstanding contributions to undergraduate research and education at Notre Dame. Barbara received her Bachelor of Science in Management and Administration from Indiana University-South Bend. She has participated in intensive training programs at Notre Dame, including Project Management, Leading with Impact, Frontline Supervision, and Research Administration, and has attended the highly acclaimed Fundamentals of Sponsored Projects Administration through the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA). Previous to Notre Dame, Barbara spent over 15 years in healthcare administration, working alongside presidents, chief executive officers, and other senior-level executives at Beacon Health System (Indiana) and Trinity Health (Michigan) to advance strategic initiatives and support board functions.
