Benjamin Sheyko

As the Technology Development Program Manager, Ben plays a vital role in the IDEA Center’s Technology Commercialization process, focusing on advancing the market readiness of disclosed university technologies. His responsibilities encompass assessing the technical readiness of disclosures, validating problem-solution fit through external collaboration, supporting faculty and university spinouts through commercially-focused grant writing, and managing the distribution of IDEA Center grant funds for conducting proof of concept studies.

 

Before his current role, Ben worked as a scientist in the Technical Operations group at Siemens Healthcare, where he supported the manufacturing, development, and quality systems of various point-of-care diagnostic products. Following his time at Siemens, he led the assay development team at AgenDx Biosciences, an early-stage molecular diagnostics startup spun-out of the University of Notre Dame. There, he gained valuable experience in early-stage company operations, strategy, fundraising, and product development. This experience enabled him to later take on diverse technical roles in several Notre Dame spinouts before transitioning to his current position at The IDEA Center in 2020.

 

Ben holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University (2011) and a Master of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from The Georgia Institute of Technology (2014).
