Biography

Bharat Mishra joined Notre Dame Research in 2025 as the Principal Bioinformatician for the Genome and Bioinformatic Core Facility and Assistant Professor of the Practice in Bioinformatics of the Department of Biological Sciences. He will contribute to the university research by providing bioinformatics consultations, analysis support, engaging in collaborative projects, and training individuals in biological data science. Bharat has expertise in high-throughput sequencing analysis at tissue (RNA-Seq), single-cell transcriptomics (scRNA-Seq), spatial transcriptomics (ST), and others to delineate the factors underlying cellular functions at unprecedented levels of resolution. He follows FAIR data analysis and reporting practices including version control, containerization, open-source computational tools usages, and HPC computation clusters. Bharat is a 2022 PhD in Biology graduate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and was serving as Bioinformatician III at the UAB-Biological Data Science (U-BDS) Core before joining Notre Dame.
