Erik Janowsky

Biography

‭Dr. Erik Janowsky is a retired career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the U.S. Agency for International Development. In addition to leading teams in Washington and overseas in Uganda, Peru, Guatemala, Afghanistan and North Macedonia, Erik served in senior leadership positions as the Deputy Mission Director in Peru, the Country Representative in North Macedonia, and as the USAID Mission Director in Morocco.

Erik has over 30 years of international development experience. Prior to joining USAID in 2004, he worked at the Peace Corps and led nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and overseas. Erik was a co-founder of Andean Health and Development, a non-profit he started with Fr. Ted Hesburgh and Dr. David Gaus, and for which he and David received the Dr. Thomas A. Dooley Award from Notre Dame in recognition for their service to humanity. While serving as the CEO of Workforce Development Services, Inc. in South Bend, Erik was also a faculty fellow at the Institute of Latino Studies at Notre Dame. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador after graduating from Notre Dame, and he has an MA and PhD from Tulane University.
