Biography
As a Researcher Liaison Program Manager, MaryBeth creates strong, trusted relationships with her portfolio of researchers and manages their inventions from pre-disclosure submission through commercialization decision. MaryBeth strives to ensure that Notre Dame researchers understand the commercialization potential of their work. She serves as the primary contact for researchers across EE, C&EE&ES, CS&E, Physics, Math, Applied Math, the School of Architecture, and the Library.
MaryBeth joined the IDEA Center in April 2022 as the Problem Validation Program Coordinator, where she focused on Problem and Customer Validation, ensuring that the ideas coming through the IDEA Center were solving critical problems for one or more customer segments, and that those customers were eager for a better solution. She came back to South Bend from the Oil & Gas Industry where, as a geologist, she first worked interpreting data for O&G companies before moving to the service sector. In her roles in software Technical Sales Management she focused on problem discovery, customer needs, wants and motivations, and solving problems through a customer-first, empathetic approach that created trust, strong relationships, and repeat-customers.
MaryBeth earned her BS in Geology at the University of Notre Dame and her MS in Geology at Brigham Young University.
