Biography
Partha Choudhury is the Associate Director of Business Development at the University of Notre Dame's IDEA Center. He is responsible for identifying potential partnerships and pathways for successful commercialization of the intellectual property (IP) generated at Notre Dame. Partha manages and negotiates license, option and other agreements regarding all university IP. In this role, he actively engages and works with the innovation-enthusiasts, researchers, experts, entrepreneurs, industry, investors, and decides on the commercialization strategies for continuing growth and success.
Before coming to Notre Dame, Partha successfully led licensing and BD efforts involving university IP at multiple institutions along the east coast for about ten years. He licensed out all types of university IP to startups, mid-size and large companies. Some of his deals range from therapeutics, diagnostics, devices, specialty chemicals, to nanomaterials, clean tech, etc. He identified and partnered with other stakeholders of the innovation process and economy that significantly contributed to the growth and expansion of the organizations that he had served. One of his favorite one-liners is “The goal is to win the relationship, not necessarily the negotiation”.
Partha earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Wake Forest University and an MS degree in Chemistry from the University of Miami. He studied nanomaterials during his MSc studies at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India and holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chemistry from the University of Calcutta, India.
