Biography

Tim Weber is the associate director of the Eck Institute for Global Health (EIGH), where he leads a portfolio of strategic initiatives while overseeing day-to-day operations. Before joining EIGH, Tim served in the U.S. Navy for 33 years, specializing in healthcare management and resourcing, strategic planning, crisis management, and legislative affairs.

Tim served in various executive leadership positions during his military career, including as the chief executive officer of the U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan. He also served as the U.S./NATO senior advisor to the Afghan National Police healthcare system and its surgeon general. Before his military retirement in 2022 at the rank of rear admiral, Tim led U.S. Navy Medicine’s Pacific Region. In this role, he oversaw 10 naval hospitals, two dental centers, and eight medical research and development laboratories in 11 countries and territories. Concurrently, Tim was responsible for the professional development of 3,100 Navy officers in 31 different clinical, scientific, and administrative specialties.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, he also received a master of science degree from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. Tim completed Notre Dame’s Inspired Leadership Institute fellowship with studies in global health, international development, peace studies, and political science.
