Sara Chan 600x750

Join the Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study for a masterclass given by NDIAS Graduate Fellow Sara Chan (PhD candidate, Philosophy): "To Think or Not to Think (for Yourself)." In an age of "sheeple" on the one hand and unprecedented distrust of experts on the other, it can be tough to know when you should think for yourself and when you ought to defer to someone who knows better. In this masterclass, we’ll take a whirlwind tour of some philosophical issues surrounding deferring to authority and accepting the testimony of others. After which, we’ll zoom in on what this all suggests about appealing to lived experience as the basis of authority, particularly with respect to debates about disability.
