Nikole Hannah-Jones has spent her career investigating racial inequality and injustice, and her reporting has earned her the MacArthur Fellowship, known as the Genius grant, the Pulitzer Prize, a Peabody Award, two George Polk Awards, and three National Magazine Awards. 

Hannah-Jones, a Notre Dame '98 alumna and Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of "The 1916 Project," will be returning to Notre Dame on March 15th. She will be the 2022 Red Smith Lecturer through the Gallivan Program in Journalism, Ethics, and Democracy. This program is taking place in partnership with the Department of American Studies and the Initiative on Race and Resilience.
