Mosquitoes are a major global health threat and Notre Dame researchers are fighting back

More than a million people die from diseases spread by mosquitoes each year. Malaria is one of the biggest culprits, with an estimated 229 million new cases of the disease in 2019, and with 94 percent of all cases and deaths occurring in the World Health Organization (WHO) African Region.
