"Romeo and Juliet" headlines the 2022 Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival!

The Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival is thrilled to unveil its 2022 season, headlined by a new Professional Company staging of Romeo and Juliet, one of Shakespeare's most celebrated and popular plays. Also returning is the venerable Touring Company, who will perform All's Well That Ends Well in multiple locations across Michiana, as well as Community Company events including ShakeScenes and Shakespeare Around the Bend

Professional Company
Romeo and Juliet
August 16-28, 2022 (Previews: Aug 16-17, Season Gala, Aug. 18)
Fourteen performances (Tickets on sale in February)

One of Shakespeare's most popular and iconic tales, the classic story of star-crossed romance between young lovers still has the power to thrill and move audiences anywhere. Romeo and Juliet explodes the notions of the proper behavior of youth, with a story that could be ripped from today's headlines. As tensions between their families escalate, Romeo and Juliet's secret romance ignites a chain reaction of increasingly dangerous street violence, with the growing unrest threatening to topple an entire city. The NDSF Professional Company returns to Romeo and Juliet for the first time in sixteen years with a new staging by Chicago-based director Chris Anthony. Tickets on sale in February.

Touring Company
All's Well That Ends Well
July 15 to August 24, 2022
Ten Performances (Free)

What play reopened Shakespeare's theatre after a forced shutdown due to the plague? Arguably, it was All's Well That Ends Well. A brilliant young woman named Helena determines to chart her own life's course, become a healer, and select the husband of her choosing. She follows her misguided man, Bertram, through what feels like a fairy tale with a modern twist, from France to Florence and back again. With that much travel, it's the perfect play to herald the return of NDSF's Touring Company. All's Well That Ends Well will bring an out-of-the-trunk, Shakespeare-in-the-Park energy to this comedy, with live music sung and performed by the cast. Performances throughout Michiana; complete performance schedule coming soon. Free.
