Faculty, staff, and students at the University of Notre Dame may now submit their nominations for the annual Notre Dame Integrated Imaging Facility’s (NDIIF) imaging awards. Three different imaging awards are open for nominations, which are due by Monday, May 3, 2021.
“The imaging awards allow the NDIIF to recognize facility users, their work, and their publications with the broader research community,” said Bradley Smith, Emil T. Hofman Professor of Science and director of the NDIIF. “I encourage Notre Dame faculty, students, and staff to submit their nominations for this year’s awards.”
The Best Electron Microscopy Publication Imaging Award and the Best Biological Publication Imaging Award nominations will be reviewed based on a piece of original research with biological applications highlighting optical microscopy or InVivo imaging. The NDIIF will consider the impact level of the journal, the cutting-edge discovery of the research conducted, and all levels of innovation and sophistication required to obtain the image.
The Best Artistic Image Award does not require the image to be published in a research journal, as the NDIIF recognizes “users for their ability to create art through the use of the facility's scientific equipment.”
All nominations must submit an image taken with NDIIF equipment, show that the image was published in a peer-reviewed journal during the 2020 calendar year, and that the image had been taken by a Notre Dame faculty, staff, or student.
