Jeongseek Kang is a Senior Research Scientist at the Notre Dame Turbomachinery Laboratory (NDTL) where he leads advanced compressor and turbine projects. Dr. Kang has extensive R&D experience in turbomachinery, which includes work on single-stage and multi-stage axial compressors, single-stage and multi-stage centrifugal compressors, single-stage turbines for power generation, multi-stage power turbines for turboshaft engines, radial turbines for APUs, cryogenic turbopumps for rocket propulsion, and gas turbine altitude tests. His research includes experimental studies on engine relevant high speed rotating test rigs with a focus on turbomachinery aerodynamics and aeromechanics. Dr. Kang also has design experience in air, real gas, and sCO2 centrifugal compressors.
Dr. Kang received his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Seoul National University (2002) with a concentration in experimental studies on compressor rotating stall. He worked for the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (2002-2015) before joining NDTL in 2015.
