Equipment Restoration and Renewal

The Equipment Restoration and Renewal Program assists in the restoration, replacement, and renewal of the facilities needed for faculty research, scholarship, and creative endeavor. Grants will typically be in the range of $25,000 to $200,000. Augmentation of the grants by the Colleges, Departments, and researchers will be allowed.

Faculty Research Support Initiation Grant

The Faculty Research Support Initiation Grant provides seed funds to established faculty initiating new programs of research, scholarship, or creative endeavor or to new faculty beginning their research programs.

Proposals requesting support for ongoing research projects funded by other sponsors or projects in the final stages of completion are not appropriate for this grant.

Faculty Research Support Regular Grant

The Faculty Research Support Regular Grant provides funds to support outstanding research, scholarship, or creative endeavor that will make a major contribution in any field of study.

The project should lead to a significant outcome during the period of the award; therefore, this grant should not be viewed as a seed funding opportunity for the generation of preliminary results. With the exception of national fellowships, projects for which competitive funding is available from external sources are not suitable for this grant.

Library Acquisitions Grant

The Library Acquisitions Grant Program is designed to provide University resources to fund library acquisitions in support of the research and scholarly endeavors at the University of Notre Dame. This program is not meant to replace the normal means of enhancing the library’s collections, but to provide a means of responding to unique opportunities or challenges. Collection materials requested may be in print, digital, electronic, or other formats. It is expected that requests will normally be in the range between $25,000 and $150,000. Cost share with other units is desirable.

Notre Dame-Eli Lilly & Co. Faculty Fellowship Program in Drug Discovery

The Notre Dame-Eli Lilly & Co. Faculty Fellowship Program in Drug Discovery provides a stipend for a visiting scholar to experience, firsthand, the drug discovery and development process by shadowing a team of Lilly scientists and project managers. ND-Lilly Fellows will have the opportunity to consult on project-related issues, collaborate with Lilly scientists on research questions, present seminars on topics of mutual interest, and stimulate new connections between Lilly and Notre Dame researchers.


Rome Global Gateway Faculty Research Awards

The Rome Global Gateway Faculty Research Awards provide funding up to $50,000 USD to support faculty research in the University of Notre Dame’s center in Rome, Italy. The grants are open to full-time, regular faculty from all Colleges, Schools, and fields of discipline. The purpose of the grant is to support internationally significant individual faculty research projects and/or collaborations with Rome-based research academies, universities, or research groups.
