Jacob Hammer

Jacob Hammer serves as the Researcher Liaison Program Manager at the University of Notre Dame’s IDEA Center, where he is the primary point of contact for Notre Dame faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and doctoral students in science (Chemistry and Biology), engineering (Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering and Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering), and the Business and Law Schools. He works closely with researchers to identify promising patentable inventions and provides strategic guidance throughout the commercialization process, including technology assessment, market evaluation, intellectual property, and support navigating the University’s technology transfer process from disclosure to commercialization.

Jacob joined the IDEA Center after completing his PhD in Integrated Biomedical Sciences (Neuroscience) at the University of Notre Dame in May 2026. During his time at Notre Dame, he conducted research in neuroscience and cancer biology, gaining experience in biomedical research and the development and evaluation of scientific discoveries. Prior to his time at Notre Dame, he worked as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, providing frontline patient care in both emergency room and ambulance settings. Jacob strives to use his clinical and research background to translate academic discoveries into real-world applications and maximize the impact of Notre Dame research.

Jacob earned his Master of Science in Pharmacogenomics from Manchester University’s College of Pharmacy in 2019 and his Bachelor of Science in Biology-Chemistry and Exercise & Sport Science from Manchester University in 2017.
