Biography
Marya Lieberman is the associate director for the ND Sensor Initiative. Her role includes facilitating faculty research in innovative sensor technologies that address important societal problems and advancing the ND-SCAN opioid analysis program and its associated community engagement elements. Marya joined the faculty at the University of Notre Dame in 1996 and is the Nancy Dee Collegiate Professor of Cancer Research. Her work focuses on paper analytical devices with applications to pharmaceutical quality, detection of high-potency opioids, and environmental hazard detection. She was the 2025 recipient of the American Chemical Society's Esselen Award for Chemistry in the Public Interest.
