Biography

Nydia Morales-Soto is an Assistant Director of the Eck Institute for Global Health where she supports interdisciplinary global health research and training efforts. Nydia joined the University of Notre Dame in 2011 after receiving her PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, and a BS in Microbiology from Universidad de Puerto Rico - Humacao. Nydia’s professional experiences encompass project development, research, training, teaching, team management, and grant writing and support. Through independent and collaborative work, Nydia has successfully bridged interdisciplinary efforts, spanning the fields of science, engineering, mathematics, and sociology. Her research career has largely been focused on the characterization of microorganisms and their products with the goal of translating basic laboratory research and methodologies for clinical and field applications while targeting current global health challenges such as antimicrobial resistance.
